Representatives of the communications industry, veterans of the telecommunications sector, and colleagues congratulate the distinguished specialist and statesman Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich Iskakov on his 85th birthday.
Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich has dedicated his life to the development of communications and telecommunications in Kyrgyzstan. His professional career began in 1963 after graduating from the Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of Communications, where he earned a degree in telecommunications engineering. From the very beginning of his career, he proved himself to be a talented engineer and organizer, starting his career at the Ministry of Communications’ telegraph and telephone station.
Over the years, Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich held key positions within the republic’s communications system. He headed the Frunze City Telephone Network and led the Issyk-Kul Production and Technical Communications Administration, where he actively participated in the development of regional infrastructure and the implementation of modern technologies. Under his leadership, the intra-regional communications system of the Issyk-Kul Region was established and automated.
In 1976, Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich was appointed Deputy Minister of Communications of the Kyrgyz SSR. During this period, he made a significant contribution to the modernization and development of the republic’s communications infrastructure, actively participating in the organization of efforts to transition the city telephone network to six-digit numbering and the introduction of new technology.
His professional experience and high standing were also in demand on the international stage. In 1981, he was sent to Vietnam as an advisor on telecommunications development, where he worked successfully for two years.
Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich also played a significant role in the development of the republic’s capital. From 1984, he headed the Frunze City Executive Committee; during this period, the city’s infrastructure was actively developed, new residential neighborhoods and social and cultural facilities were built, roads and municipal services were modernized, and the city center was transformed.
In 1991, he was appointed the first Minister of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, where, amid the formation of an independent state, he participated in shaping the development strategy for this new economic sector.
Since 1996, Salavat Turdukhodzhaevich has headed the Kyrgyz-American joint venture KATEL, where he made a significant contribution to the development of the country’s modern telecommunications infrastructure and the strengthening of the stability of the communications sector.
For his many years of service and significant contribution to the development of telecommunications, he has been awarded state honors, including the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Medal for Valiant Labor, as well as certificates of honor and departmental awards.
