The Third Central Asia Peering and Connectivity Forum (CAPIF 3) will be held on September 24-25, 2024 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event, organized by RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) in cooperation with OJSC “Kyrgyztelecom” and the Association of Telecom Operators of Kyrgyzstan, will bring together experts from Central Asia, Iran and neighboring regions to strengthen internet connectivity and promote digital growth.
Platform for Internet development in Central Asia
Central Asia is on the path of rapid digitalization, but problems with Internet connectivity and accessibility remain acute in some regions. CAPIF 3 aims to address these issues by strengthening cooperation between key players: Internet service providers, telecommunications operators, regulators and industry leaders. More than 200 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran are expected to attend the forum.
Key program topics:
- Development of Internet traffic exchange points (IXPs): One of the highlights of the forum will be a special session dedicated to the development of IXPs in the region. Presentations from newly established IXPs will be presented, and challenges and solutions in building interconnection infrastructure will be discussed.
- Peering and Best Practices: Network operators will share their experience in peering, describing how local Internet traffic can be exchanged more efficiently, reducing costs and increasing speeds.
- Opportunities for better connectivity: The forum will look at ways to improve both regional and international internet connectivity, which is an important factor for the digital transformation of the region.
- Legislative and Regulatory Discussions: Legislative and regulatory sessions will discuss how governments can support the development of more resilient internet infrastructure.
