Batken region, December 24, 2025. OJSC “Kyrgyztelecom” continues connecting residents of Batken region to high-speed internet and cable television, using infrastructure created under the DCASA project (Digital CASA – Kyrgyz Republic). The project has significantly expanded the country’s fiber-optic network: according to the company, over 3000 km of FOCL (Fiber-Optic Communication Line) have been laid within its framework, which exceeded initial forecasts.
From main lines to homes: starting connections in villages
After the main infrastructure was created and launched, the primary focus of work in the region shifts to connecting physical subscribers—households—in the settlements of the Batken region. The branch specifies that the work is being carried out in phases, covering all villages.
First phase:
Chek village (current work site),
followed by connecting subscribers in Zhany-Zher village.
Second phase (Kadamjay district):
Kambar-Abad, Irelesh, Minchynar.
Next area of coverage (Leilek district):
Toguz-Bulak, Aybike, Kara-Bulak.
This schedule allows for sequential connection—from the readiness of lines and communication hubs to the actual connection of households and service setup.
Maksatbek Madzhitov, Director of the Batken Regional Branch of OJSC “Kyrgyztelecom”, notes that the technical base in the region has changed as demand and network capabilities have grown:
“Previously, internet connection in many cases went through old copper cables—because of this, the speed was noticeably lost. Then came Metro Ethernet technology, and today we are connecting subscribers using the advanced GPON technology. This is already a different level of quality: up to 64 subscribers can be connected on one optical line, and there is no longer a situation where we cannot connect a client due to a lack of technical capability. Plus—high speed and the ability to simultaneously connect a fixed-line home phone,” Maksatbek Madzhitov reported.
GPON specifically provides the opportunity to scale connections faster: one line serves a group of houses at once, and the quality of communication is less dependent on distance and cable wear compared to copper infrastructure.
